| Item Description :Webster, 1894. FIRST EDITION. Points of issue: 1894 stated on title and copyright pages; 5 3/8" between title and Twain. Original tan pictorial cloth stamped in gilt, black and orange with a design of two boys running, being pursued by a lion. The book is "credited" to Huck Finn on title page. One slightly darker spot about the size of a pea on front cover below author's name, and foredge slightly darker than balance of cloth. The gilt lettering quite bright in places. The spine is slightly darker than the balance of the cloth, the illustrations and lettering are mostly clean and bright, some foxing. Strong pages with age yellowing and some foxing. Wrinkling of cover separated from boards. Spine cover had chip at top edge & separated from cover at half-title page. Illustrations with half-tone plates by Dan Beard. Celebrated humorist Mark Twain sends Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, and Jim, up, up, and away in a super-charged hot air balloon, all the way to Africa. Originally published in 1894, Twain intended to send the trio to other ports of call, but his plans faded away. 8vo - approx. 6" x 8" tall. 219 pages + 4 pages ads.Images :
