The oversize books are beautifully printed and are illustrated with sixty-four full-page wood engravings. These engravings are superb. ( Note that the index lists one of The Deerslayer engravings at page 117 in Vol. I when it is actually bound at page 113. ) The books are bound in dark green cloth covered boards with gold graphics, faded on spine brighter on covers. All page edges are marbled. Overall the set is in very good condition for being well over 115 years of age. Interiors are in very good condition , clean with no marks, corners bumped and spine gilt is faded, some cover fading and soiling, VolV - Title page and frontispiece foxed, Vol VI - hole in spine cloth and binding separated; Vol VII - small hole in spine cloth.
