The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz | Publisher : | Whitman Publishing Company | | Year : | 1970 | | Pages : | 210 | | Condition : | Very Good | | Binding : | Hardcover | | Price : | $79.95 | | | | |
| Item Description :L. Frank Baum's unabridged THE WIZARD OF OZ, published by Whitman Publishing, Racine, Wisconsin, in the 1970's. This is a Special Premium Edition. Illustrations are by Erika Markling. Wrap-around illustrated glossy cover. Great item for OZ completists. "Line" number for the edition: No. 1620. While there is some homage to other artists (I think I see a touch of Tenniel in some secondary figures), Ms Markling's interpretation of Dorothy, et. al. is wholly her own and quite delightful. And then Whitman sold Folger's Coffee on using this new edition as a premium giveaway! You bought a "one 2-lb. Can of Folgers Coffee" and you got the book FREE. The giveaway book is marked by a round Free logo that is part of the printed cover. This book is in great condition, and seems to have hardly been read at all. The page registers are firm (they actually are mulled to the boards and even have head & foot bands!). Overall nice collectible condition. 210 pages.
