Reilly & Britton, Chicago, 1908. FIRST EDTION, first state. Pages are clean, intact and with many clear illustrations by John R. Neill. Some slight yellowing due to age. 10 full color plates in excellent condition. The pages, for the most part, are bound tightly to the spine. Detached front cover and binding damage. The fabric on the spine has a small tear and has pulled away a bit at the top. A very rare first edition, first state. This tale begins with Baum exclaiming, "It is no use; no use at all." He simply had to write more Oz books due to the demand of his loyal readers. This one starts with another calamity, a California earthquake, and follows forward into the adventures. 256 pages.
