| Item Description :The Reilly & Lee Co., 1920. First Edition; first issue. Illustrated by John R. Neill. With 12 splendid color plates with no captions as required. Tight internally and externally. Tan/orange boards with colorful pastedown, book has some rubbing on corners and on spine. This is orange/tannish boards. There is one pencil mark above L. Frank Baum. Looks like this book is missing the right front endpaper. These are black and white endpapers. The title page and dedication pages has several owners stamps. Some light very light edge staining on some plates but only the border edge doesnt effect the color plates. The advertisement page in the front appears to be missing. Crisp pastedown on the front boards depicting Glinda, Dorothy and Osma with Scarecrow and Tinman in the background. ILLUSTRATED BY JNO R. NEILL Exhibits these points of first issue - 279 Text Pages. On page 280 an advertisement of the Oz Man Tales Ending in Gingerbread Man. Later editions did not have color plates. Pictorial self-endpapers in black and white. Color Plates: Color plates with no captions. 12 color plates. All color illustrations clean with exception of very faint pink crayon on one, black and white illustrations are for the most part, as was common back in those days of yore, are neatly colored with exception of 3 or 4 are untouched, rear endpaper missing. If anything the plates are beautiful and vibrant. And remember the color plates are not colored on, just the black and white illustrations. All pages in book are in binding.
