Vol. 1 No. 1 includes a "classical dictionary of the vulgar tongue", beautiful prints of ribald playing cards depicting imagined scenes from Renaissance Florence, and an absolutely gorgeous "verite" photographic essay by Garry Winogrand called "Love in the Subway". Many, many other delights in the following issues. No. 3 features prints of the last studio portraits of a very sad-looking Marilyn Monroe, taken by Bert Stern 6 weeks before her death. Essential for any collector of Monroe memorabilia. No. 4 includes a letter from Allen Ginsburg and a very short story from Ray Bradbury. Publication was suspended with the fourth issue; the editor was arrested on 28 counts of mailing obscene matter and went to prison after a protracted legal struggle. Pictorial, paper boards.
