Item Description :

Doubleday, 1970. Very good condition (fine if not for damp stain to bottom edge of pages) thus in very good + condition, former owner inscription. 32 color plates by Salvador Dali. Dimensions: 11.75" x 8.5". Binding is Quarto. Gilt-titled, padded red leatherette. All page edges are gilt, two red marker ribbons attached, gilt wear. Marbled endpapers. Richly colored illustrations by Salvador Dali. This would make a fine family or presentation bible, and a wonderful collectors edition for investment. The family pages are blank, colored maps, chronology of rulers, etc. 1139 + 351pp plus chronology, family record (unused), maps in color. These outstanding Works of Art were first painted by Dali as Water-Colours between 1963 and 1969 as the result of a request by his friend and Patron, Giuseppe Albaretto, with the intention of bringing Dali back to his Catholic roots. Masterpieces in their own right, the colour and definition of these Lithographs has to be seen to be believed - each would make a lasting impression if, as has often happened with this tome, they were to be cut from the Bible and displayed individually.
